Research synopsis

My research falls at the intersection of labor economics and public economics and it covers a variety of topics, including wage and productivity differentials across firms, the effects of taxation on the supply of labor and the impact of migration on local labor markets. In my work I pay particular attention to the role played by the interaction between worker and firm behavior in shaping demand and supply of labor, wages and productivity. To estimate these interactions, I apply the latest econometric techniques to detailed matched employer-employee data. My work reveals that the combined study of worker and firm behavior can help provide new insights on well established facts in the literature, such as the low elasticity of labor supply to tax changes. At the same time, my research documents a number of new facts, such as the spillovers that occur across workers within a firm in response to policy changes. These findings lay the groundwork for future related research.
