Hi, I am Lu Sun | 孙露

I am a first year PhD student in Cognitive Science Department and Design Lab at UC San Diego. Currently, I am working with Prof. Steven Dow at ProtoLab and Design Lab. My broad research area is Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), with focuses on computational social science, crowdsourcing and social computing. In my research, I try to understand, model and facilitate human social behaviors in online communities. Another aspect of my research is on collective innovation. I am building scalable tools / crowdsourcing systems to support feedback exchange for innovation projects. I am still exploring interesting research topics, such as multimodal interaction and human-AI collaboration.

Prior to entering my graduate program, I received my B.Eng. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication (BUPT) and Master degree from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Human Computer Interaction Institute (HCII), specialized in Learning Science. During my time at CMU, I was fortunate to work with Prof. Justine Cassell, Prof. Ken Koedinger, Prof. Robert E. Kraut and Dr. Diyi Yang. Out of my research, I enjoy doing Pilates.
