Founded in July 2021, PI Review is designed for graduate students to write reviews for their academic advisors or Principal Investigators (PIs). Our goal is to help future graduate students to choose their PhD advisors. I have spent more than 300 hours developing this website since May 2021. I am responsible for product design, front-end and back-end development, as well as website content.

Lakers Kayak Club was the place where my kayak experience started. It locates in Qiandao Lake, a beautiful human-made lake in Zhejiang, China. I built the club website for them in 2019 in exchange for free kayak lessons. I created and continuously manage website content to help them promote their business.

Found in Jun 2015, USTC iCourse is a popular course rating website designed for USTC. Our goal is to help students to share course information and find better courses. As of Aug 2021, it has more than 13600 reviews, 5300 users and 2400 courses and has helped more than 10,000 students to choose their courses. I was the project manager and front-end developer in the three-person team. This is the project I am most proud of.

Project Leader, MOOCs for High School Students

This project was initiated by me in 2014 when I just graduated from my senior high school. Our goal was to improve traditional high school education by introducing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). We wrote articles to recommend suitable online learning resources for high school students. I conducted interviews with high school teachers and students about how MOOCs could benefit their teaching or learning. We also translate educational videos from English into Chinese.

What I did in MAE 30A, MAE 30B

  • Held recitations, exam review sessions and office hours every week.
  • Wrote solutions for homework and exams, created equations sheets for three midterms.
  • Hosted 1-on-1 oral exams (20 minutes interviews) with more than 80 students.
  • Graded assignments, exams and provided feedback to the instructor.
  • Guided students to complete their Statics in Everyday Life projects in MAE30A.
  • Recorded a YouTube video to explain an important concept.
  • Developed a 3D rotation web visualization tool to help remote teaching.

I like doing exercise and outdoor activities, including sea kayaking, hiking, road running and swimming. I am an active member of the San Diego Kayak Club. I am also a volunteer in the Lakers Kayak Club. I was a former member of the USTC track and field team.

I also like traveling, writing blogs, developing websites, and gardening.

I often play Ring Fit Adventure and Just Dance at home with my husband.

  • My personal best (PB) in the half marathon is 1:46:25, PB in 5k is 22:38.52 (both in 2018)
  • I can do two types of kayak hand rolls (butterfly roll, double-pump roll)
  • I have been to 17 National Parks in the US, among them my TOP 4 hiking trails are:
    • Harding Icefield Trail (Kenai Fjords National Park)
    • Mist Trail (Yosemite National Park)
    • South Kaibab Trail (Grand Canyon National Park)
    • Pipiwai Trail (Haleakala National Park)
